SUPERNATURAL: RISING SON
DC Comics/Wildstorm
Writer: Peter Johnson & Rebecca Dessertine
Featuring art by: Diego Olmos
Cover art by: Dustin Nguyen
Release Date: Ongoing 6 issue series
Supernatural is everything the name states it to be. This is a great comic book that takes you on a joy ride that doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon, and who can complain about that? It’s a story about Sam Winchester, a man on a mission to find out what happened to his wife. He tours the country with his two sons Sam and Dean, searching for anything that leads to his wife. Battling ghosts, demons, and dare I say the supernatural, this story is anything but a bore. Only on the third release of a six book installment it has proven to be a great book to keep you entertained, interested, and even impressed. This is definitely one to pick up when you come to our store.

PUNISHER KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE
Marvel Comics
Writer: Garth Ennis
Featuring Art by: Doug Braithwaite
Cover art by: Steve Dillon
Release Date: Out
First off let me just say that Garth Ennis writes some bloody and gruesome comic plots. And that, is why I love his writing. The plot is simple, the Punisher is ticked off, and he’s out for vengeance. The catch, he doesn’t care if you’re good or bad. They're all on his radar. The artwork isn’t bad. I would have preferred a darker tone through the book. But it still does the job. This book is great for that fact that it’s not your typical Marvel book. Their will be no last minute rescue, or anyone to save the day. There will be, only Punishment. --- Nick Monte
30 DAYS OF NIGHT
IDW Publishing
Writer: Steve Niles
Featuring Art by: Ben Templesmith
Cover art by: Ben Templesmith
Release Date: Out
Think about it, Vampires, could you ask for a more classical villain? Well in Steve Niles "30 Days of Night," there will be plenty of classical villains to go around. You'll be taken to the remote town of Barrow, Alaska, where the population is about to dwindle. It's an exciting read with several twists and turns. I definitely recommend reading it with the lights turned low at night. If you love horror movies you should check this out. If not, read it just for the exceptional writing. Again, the vampires are great and this is something to consider buying.

Y: The Last Man
Vertigo Comics
Writer: Brian K Vaughan
Featuring Art by: Pia Guerra
Cover Art by: J. G. Jones
Title: Unmanned Vol. 1Possibly the best team in comics is here, and it’s, a man with his monkey! “Y: The Last Man” is a crazy adventure where every male creature on earth mysteriously dies. Brian Vaughan takes what’s essentially a basic idea, and turns it into one amazing story. The art panels aren’t anything to brag about. But the writing is so good that it makes up for it. “Y: The Last Man” is perfect for people 13 and up. Put it on your list of books to pick up, you won’t be sorry.

Marvels
Marvel Comics
Writer: Kurt Busiek
Featuring Art by: Alex Ross
Cover Art by: Alex Ross
Arguably; the best thing to come out of Marvel is, well, Marvels. You'll see the creation of the Marvel universe through the life of a beat reporter. As if that wasn't exciting enough, the Alex Ross panels are utterly jaw dropping. As an avid Marvel reader, I can read this until I wear out the spine of the book. It'll give you a great understanding of the Marvel Universe, and introduce new readers to an exciting new world. So as if I can't make it any clearer, I'll rank Marvels as a must have.

Sin City: The Hard Goodbye
Dark Horse Comics
Writer: Frank Miller
Featuring Art by: Frank Miller
Cover Art by: Frank Miller
If you're looking for something dark, artistic and unique, then look no further. Frank Miller's Sin City offers a Noir-like atmosphere of a loveable killer named, Marv. The Hard Goodbye is the first of seven books in this amazing set. You'll be amazed with the way, black and white creates the shadows and start backgrounds (my favorite is the graveyard scene). The creative work of Frank Miller is an in your face ride that you'll enjoy. However I wouldn't recommend it for a kid. And only once you've read the book, watch the DVD. The movie is almost shot for shot.

Titans
DC Comics
Writer: Judd Winick
Featuring Art by: Joe Benitez and Victor Llamas
Cover art by: Ian Churchill
Release Date: April 2008 (Ongoing series)
If you enjoy suspense, action, and an awesome team of super heroes then the comic book "Titans" is for you. It involves the original Teen Titans that we have all grown up to love -- Robin, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven, Starfire -- and a few new faces. Together, they have all teamed up to fight Raven’s father, Trigon. It is a great title that explores the seven deadly sins and the inner emotions of each hero in his or her own way. A nice one to get into to and enjoy. I can’t wait until issue four comes out.

Locke & Key
IDW Publishing
Writer: Joe Hill
Featuring Art by: Gabriel Rodriguez
Release Date: 2008 (Ongoing series)
Locke & Key is an amazing book that takes you into a world of twist and turns and even MURDER. From the mind of Stephen King’s son, Joe Hill, it involves a family being hunted down by Sam Lesser, who killed their father in Issue 1. The family has a summer home in Lovecraft, MA. They feel that this would be a perfect new start after the death of their father. After they move into the new house -- mysteriously named Keyhouse -- weird things start to happen. The youngest of the children stubbles across a key that allows him to die and become a ghost, but lets him come back to life. Things get even more strange when the boy finds a well that contains a beautiful vision who calls herself his echo. It appears that there is more to this woman giving this book an eerie feel. Truly a work of art, this book will keep you guessing and will keep your fingers on the corner of the paper just so you can have a quicker turn to the next page. A definite pick up in any thrill seeker's eyes.
